Of the recurring costs, the largest portion is for chlorine tablets. We STRONGLY urge you to charge users/families for those tablets. As you will see in our BEST PRACTICE section, charging 10 gouds covers the cost of the tablets, is affordablet to most Haitian families and further earns the families commitment to the program. They are invested.

Charge Family 10 gouds for 1 strip of 10 red tables & 1 strip of 10 grey tablets
Using 5 gallons/day, family will need 36 strips/year
10 gouds is roughly equal to $0.25 US
36 X $0.25 = $9.00/family X 400 families = $3,600 for tablets

Additionally, to further help reduce recurring annual costs, we will happily teach communities how to re-use parts of the string filter and simply replace carbon in the carbon filter, bringing their costs down to about $2.00 and $1.50 respectively.

Finally, the only item not included in this estimate is the intial system transportation from Port au Prince to your community. This needs to be quoted on a community by community basis.
